Since the 1970's the Council has kept records of permissions for residential development and is a commentary on those being built or completed. Recently these housing numbers have been used to inform the more detailed Annual Monitoring Report and from 2009 the annual RLA will also inform the Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA). Currently the housing figures also count towards targets in the County Structure Plan for new residential development.
