Open Spaces, Sport and Recreation Study
Cotswold District Council commissioned PMP Genesis Consultants to undertake an assessment of open space, sport and recreation across the District
The key objectives of the study are to:
• create an accurate audit of existing open space, sport and recreation facilities across Cotswold
District;
• identify local needs and aspirations through consultation, a strategic review and a review of
existing provision;
• recommend standards of provision (quantity, quality and accessibility) in accordance with
PPG17; and
• develop a clear framework to inform practical action to protect and improve open space, sport
and recreation facilities.
The study has been prepared in accordance with the requirements of Planning Policy Guidance Note 17 (PPG17) and its Companion Guide (September 2002) as well as the Best Practice Guidance for the preparation of open space strategies (CABE Space and Mayor of London May 2009). However, the Study also accords with emerging policy in the form of the draft National Planning Policy Guidance (July 2011).
The Study is available to view at the Council Offices at Trinity Road, Cirencester, and at Moreton-in-Marsh, as well as online.
The Study is available to purchase, priced £60 plus £8 p&p, with a CD version available at £10 plus £1 p&p.
