The District Council has a statutory requirement to submit an Annual Monitoring Report (AMR) under Section 35 of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act (2004) to the Secretary of State by 31st December each year. Regular monitoring is vital to establish what is happening now and what may happen in the future, which in turn will indicate and inform any required changes to policies and plans.
The AMR is required to assess both the preparation of documents against timetables set out in the Local Development Scheme (LDS), and monitor the extent to which policies are being achieved.
